Weekly Update- December 6, 2020

Good morning Husky Pup Familes,
We had a great meeting last Thursday with updates from superintendent Dr. Wildman, learning director Mrs. Millian, and a teacher update from Ms. Anderson. Dr. Wildman updated us on the impact the stay at home orders and purple tier status have on the reopening process. As of right now, it should not change the start date in mid-January for the start of the process to bring students back in seat. The current orders are only for the next three weeks, but if that is extended, it could push back the reopening start date.

Mrs. Millian updated us on the status of the renovation project at the school. Two wings are almost finished and everything is running on schedule. Every classroom will now have a flat screen TV installed for teachers and students to utilize, and the school has ordered smart boards and other forms of technology to help give our teachers a technological edge when they are teaching. A silver lining to this pandemic has been the extra funding that allowed the district to update all of our technology, getting new iPads to all of our students and bringing technology into the classroom, as well as our staff and students getting a crash course in how to use all of this new technology and the various platforms.

Mammoth Elementary is now offering free after school tutoring every day from 3:15-4:15. Click here to see the calendar for times, teachers and zoom links.

Finally, the PTO has a new event coming up...A Dinner and Magic Show! One December 18th at 5:30, magician Chris Korn will be doing a virtual magic show for us. The show will be on zoom, and he will do a some magic tricks with a few MES students and will teach everyone how to do a magic trick. Everyone will need a rubber band for the trick he will be teaching, so please let us know if you don't have one, and we will get you one before the event. A great source for rubber bands is on your fresh produce at the grocery store!

Finally, don't forget to shop locally when you can this holiday season and support our MES sponsors! When shopping at any Husky Pup Fun Run sponsor's business, remember to show them your PTO Local Supporter Card for a punch. Collect 10 paper punches for a PTO prize! (Click here for the list of all of our amazing 2020 sponsors!) And don't forget to shop with smile.amazon and scan your grocery receipts with the box tops app to support MESPTO!

Stay safe and healthy,
Lizzie Lipman
