The District Budget Constraints

In case you missed the Aeries email from Jennifer Wildman, Superintendent, this is a survey she sent out to the community to get our feedback and input on how to handle our large and growing budget deficit. Please take the time the read her message and take the survey so that the solutions taken are ones that we value and prioritize as a community.

Hello MUSD Community, Many school districts in California are currently experiencing budget shortfalls due to rapidly increased costs and revenue which is not keeping up. In MUSD, we have an ongoing budget deficit of about $750,000 a year which will need to be resolved if we are to remain fiscally solvent in the coming years. If not resolved now, the district could be in financial distress within three years.

This is a real challenge for all of us! For this reason, we convened a Budget Advisory Committee, designed to prioritize potential budget cuts. We also want to ask for your help so we have designed a survey with the recommendations from the Budget Advisory Committee. Working together is the only way for us to solve this problem.

The survey below is fairly complex, and you may not be able to answer all of the questions. That's OK! Please take a few minutes to give us whatever input and suggestions you may have to help the district reduce the budget deficit in the coming few years.
